He's arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.
Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something...unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life...or is it Hunter?

Prepare to have everything you thought you knew about the Lux universe completely thrown on its axis. From the moment of the big reveal in Obsidian, very clear lines of good and bad were drawn. But this is JLA, and we should've known it would never be that simple...

Hunter is drool- and swoon-worthy, leather-clad, bad-ass specimen of man. He's also an Arum. Who just happens to work for the DOD. No big deal. He is everything you could ever want in a bad boy: arrogant, dangerous, beautiful, snarky... The list goes on. But, of course, he's got a protective side that will leave you a puddle of girly goo.

Which brings us to Serena, the lucky object of his affections. She's a wonderfully sassy heroine who doesn't take Hunter's crap while taking everything that's happened to her in stride. A lesser lady would have been fetal and rocking, but instead she keeps going, working to make her friend's sacrifice mean something. While I tend to not be overly-critical of female protags like some (something I find completely obnoxious and rant about on the regular), Serena was still a great character.

The chemistry between Hunter and Serena is intense and crazy hot. And I do mean HOT. This is a book not to be read in any situation where the possibility of blushing would be inopportune. Desptie the steaminess, their relationship also had a give and take that was fun to read and had you rooting for them pretty quickly. Because, really, who's not a sucker for the bad boy finding his weakness? Certainly not this girl.

And there are questions. So many questions. Who are the real bad guys? What do the Arum really want? And what about the Luxen? And just how far is the DOD willing to go to maintain control of all of it?

Obsession is a thrilling, mad-sexy adventure that will leave you begging for more!

And there's a Daemon cameo! It made me squeal. A lot. :)

About the Author

I’m not sure who to tell you about here because I’m actually two people rolled into one. As a responsible mother of teens, I show one persona to the world. That person is driven, conservative and level headed. But the other part of me just never grew up. She is rebellious, impulsive and curious.

It’s hard being both these people. They’re often at odds.

The mother part of me knows I should put a cap on how many animals we take in. The teen part of me wants to save them all. We have five cats and two dogs. Who do you think is winning?

Even now. The mother part wants to make a meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and a tossed salad. The teen part wants to order a pizza, work on my website and check my Facebook.

Luckily, though my two halves don’t always agree, both of us live happily in Portland, Oregon, with a husband and too many animals. And we both love to write and write and write..

As teenagers, Lindsay and Grady found a love together that few people are lucky enough to ever experience. When Lindsay Ross decided to visit her aunt for the summer in a small lake town in New York, she didn’t expect anything other than an escape from her demanding parents. She certainly didn’t expect Grady Hawke. At the end of the summer, Lindsay and Grady made plans for their future and vowed to be together forever. Back in New York City, events beyond her control forced Lindsay to turn her back on Grady and their love. Grady has spent the last five years trying to forget the one girl who broke his heart. But when Lindsay arrives back in town unannounced, will Grady get to know the woman she has become and find out the real reason she left him all those years ago? Or will he push her away for good?

Just One Reason introduces to Lindsay and Grady, a couple whose young love fell apart because Lindsay has a secret. Now five years later, Lindsay returns to the town where they met to escape the influence of her parents to find a still-struggling Grady. As they both attempt to forgive and let go of the past, will the spark remain?

Just One Reason is a sweet, emotional story of the transition from young love to something older, as we watch these characters grow along with their feelings. I really enjoyed the relationship between them, and, although I mostly saw the reveal coming, it didn't make it any less heartbreaking. The chemistry is abounding upon their reunion, even from the first antagonistic interaction, and it's not hard to find your self rooting for them through all of the obstacles.

This is a sweet, fun read for anyone who enjoys New Adult Contemporary!

Surrender to Fate (Fate's Path #1) by Jacelyn Rye

Release Date: September 17, 2013
Genre: New Adult, Romance
Goodreads • Amazon • B&N • Smashwords

Some say fate holds the cards. But what if love deals the hand? No love goes untested. Ever. Indeed, true love is left to prove itself. And that is exactly where fate steps in to play the game.

For William and Sarah, that game begins with growing up, in the unspoiled mountains of Colorado. In a time and space as clear as the Rocky Mountain skies above, these young souls together learn about life, what matters most, what endures, what doesn’t, and about love. Innocent young love moves ever so surely toward lives they both can picture, lives spent loving each other in a place they know so well and cherish.

Will and Sarah are ecstatically swept away in the swells of new love. And it is in their rarefied bliss that they make the fragile promise of first love, a promise that fate will soon rock and pound into doubt, guilt, and epiphany.

Unexpected and unprepared, these young lovers are suddenly torn apart, first by distance, and then by the far greater pressures of temptation that test the very fidelity of their heart-held promise. No longer able to console each other, hold each other, touch each other, they face the inevitable decision: move on to other loves, or cling to the faith that they will someday be together, again.

Will and Sarah stare down an unknown path, sensing destiny will not wait long before it comes to take them. Wracked with doubt, they wonder if their love was real. Caged by guilt, they both feel tempted by others intent on stealing their hearts.

Fate plays hardest when love is tested. And Will and Sarah are no exception, letting go of their happy past to embrace hope for an uncharted future. Love plays hardest when fate tests. And so it is, even through their trials of the heart, Will and Sarah never really stop loving each other. Theirs is a love so real and pure that each just wants the other to find happiness, even if it's with another.

But fate does not surrender so easily. Dealing blow upon blow, both Will and Sarah are each struck by jolting events that take them to the very edge of life, itself.

Sarah and Will hold tightly to their past, but steadfast promises begin to wane. Life continues, filled with romance, drama, and two souls yearning to understand the challenges brought with coming of age, and learning that fate is ultimately in control. What happens to love when life is on the line? Can they both relinquish control when love is on the line? Will fate even allow them to find out?

In the follow-up to Lisa Desrochers’ explosive New Adult novel A Little too Far, Alessandro Moretti must face the life he escaped and the girl he loved and left behind.

Twenty-two year old Hilary McIntyre would like nothing more than to forget her past. As a teenager abandoned to the system, she faced some pretty dark times. But now that’s all behind her. Hilary has her life on track, and there’s no way she’ll head back down that road again.

Until Alessandro Moretti—the one person who can make her remember—shows up on her doorstep. He’s even more devastatingly gorgeous than before, and he’s much too close for comfort. Worse, he sees right through the walls she’s built over these last eight years, right into her heart and the secrets she’s guarding.

As Hilary finds herself falling back into love with the man who, as a boy both saved and destroyed her, she must decide. Past or future? Truth or lies?
